That's where the "dark past" starts, and the listing's Mystery and Pregnant tags suggest it doesn't stay in the past. We haven't read far enough to tell you how, and we won't guess.

Look at who's hiding what. Gabriel hides his wolf. Lori hides her past. And the baby in the middle is the child of a woman who's gone, cared for by a woman who has just lost the baby she carried. That's three secrets in one house. Most wolf serials run on one (usually "she's secretly the strongest wolf"), so this one has more to reveal and can take its time doing it.
It also flips the power the nanny trope normally runs on. In a human nanny romance, Nanny in Rome for example, the boss holds the money and the job.
