Koda's grip on my arm was like iron, biting into my skin as he pulled me down another cold, empty hallway. My heart raced, every part of me wanting to fight, but his strength was too much. My feet tripped on the shiny floor, struggling to keep up with his pace.
He kicked open a big door, showing a fancy office that screamed money and control. It was huge, with almost nothing in it except a giant dark desk that looked hard and expensive. Everything felt cold and scary.
And Jax was already waiting there.
He stood by the desk, arms crossed, looking calm but dangerous. His sharp eyes, just like Koda's but with a different kind of anger, locked on me the second Koda dragged me in. He must have known I was coming before I even got there.
"Trouble, brother?" Jax asked, his voice smooth but with a dark edge. It made my skin shiver, and not because of the cold metal Koda pressed me against.
Koda pushed me hard into the middle of the room, letting go of my arm just to make me stumble. I caught myself before falling, but my arm hurt where he had held me.
